R.I.P. A-ha (1982-2010)

Well, another one bites the dust, another legendary, record-breaking synthpop legend that is. With three years short of their 30th anniversary, Norway’s most famous band, A-ha, decided to call it quits. And even in these sad times, they maintain their grace and go out with a bang: a world tour in 2010, ending with a goodbye show in Oslo. No fighting, no spitting, no guitars breaking, A-ha are saying their farewell the best way they know: pleasing the world with their immortal pop masterpieces, gathered in 9 albums, spanning over almost three decades. It is no wonder that they succeeded in always remaining a big name in the world of music. They adapted to the times and offered each generation since the 80′s a number of hits worthy of any kind of decade-defining compilation. We all have our favourite A-ha tracks, I know, but here are three of mine, one for each decade active:

I didn’t know this! So sad. I loved A-ha as a 10 year old
‘take on me’ is indelibly inscribed in my consciousness, especially the rather awesome video that accompanied it.
Well, at least they went out with dignity and grace.
