Steve Hewitt’s new band, Love Amongst Ruin, has definitely hatched, proving to be more than an ex-drummer’s intimate project. Their debut album is finished and coming out this fall (September 13th to be more precise), preceded by the first single So Sad (Fade), which already received the video treatment. Info about pre-ordering the album can be found at the band’s official site.
The same location offers you the numerous dates of Love Amongst Ruin’s first European tour, which will have them pleasing fresh fans from Italy, Germany, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Netherlands. The baptism of live fire has already occurred at EuroSonic this winter, plus a string of sold-out UK shows, culminating with an imminent slot at this year’s Sonisphere. They have plenty of rocking stuff to keep the crowds moving, no doubt about it, but there’s more to the sound of Love Amongst Ruin than straightforward riffage. The free downloads on their site include a mid-tempo ballad, called Truth, a solid proof of the band’s multiple sonic dimensions. It’s the kind of song that gets you so hooked on the instrumental side, that you forget about the lyrics. Then you listen to the lyrics and totally immerse into them, with the music sounding even better. Yeah, it’s one of those. Till ‘the truth’s gonna find you’ check out some video offerings:

Nice article
And I agree that they rock – I’ve seen them play live 3 times (most recently at Sonisphere) and they just get better every time. I can’t wait for the UK tour in November – I have tickets for 6 shows!

well as they say ‘hatched’is beyond that this musical phenomena has grown legs, is walking and the land and ready to rock the world….having now done 4 gigs including Sonisphere which is launching them forward they are about to show Europe what Placebo are missing…..’balls’.
even when in ballad mode Love Amongst Ruin (LAR) show a depth of musical talent and songwriting ability that shines above the mundanity of the norm exploiting true feelings of separation and betrayal….but then STEVE turns it to rock and shows that he dont need to be behind the drums to make the world feel his power.
This album is one of immense of songwriting that can appeal to every genre….. but takes the darkside and makes it real….
with a UK to follow post Europe you would be a fool not to check out the free downloads and realise that you should book your tickets now if you wanna experience a stadium sound in a smaller venue
Shepherds Pie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to say I am a little dubious about LAR, but then again I have only seen one shaky YouTube video of their first gig, so I can’t really offer up any informed opinion as yet. I’ve bought a ticket to their Zurich gig, just out of interest – hope I’m not disappointed.
