Album review : Muse – The Resistance

by on Sep.24, 2009, under Reviews

muse resistance…suffice to say that Muse were never “the cool band to like right now”, they never made trendy music but managed in the decade since their first album’s (Showbiz) release to become an important name in modern rock history. Maybe it’s because, unlike, for example, the current army of new bands with the same haircut and the same music, Muse became a band because they had a musical vision they needed to express and not just to be cooler than the other kids from their high school. And, in the future, when they’ll close the books, The Resistance will be a chapter that holds its piece to Origin of Symmetry or Absolution.

Muse Premiere Uprising

by on Aug.05, 2009, under Music News

muse uprisingMuse are continuing the string of new events leading up to the release of their new album, The Resistance, in September. Their first single from this album, Uprising, has had its radio premiere and is now available as a digital download in 17 countries. You can also listen to the song and United States of Eurasia on the band’s official website, but only if you register. If not, you get only 30 seconds snippets. On the same site you can also take a glance at the artwork for The Resistance, which has an 80′s feel (kinda reminds me of the movie Tron), also present in some of the synths they used for Uprising.the resistance cover Courtesy of Radio 1 BBC we are able to pay a little visit to Muse’s studio, alongside Zane Lowe. Thus we find the inspiration behind United States of Eurasia. But, back to Uprising, the song is quite good, but not something groundbreaking. News On The Muse Front

by on Jul.17, 2009, under Music News

museMuse have fed some more news to their army of fans, all excited about the new album, The Resistance, coming out this fall. Through their official website they’ve announced that the first single from the new record, will be Uprising, the first track of the album. Another exciting piece of news is that they are confirmed to play at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, which will take place on the 13th of September in New York City. Muse have a memorable “prior” related to MTV awards: their legendary performace of Starlight at the 2006 EMA’s. And that’s not all. Muse too have embraced the one free song trend, but in their own original way. A global treasure hunt for six USB sticks, located in Paris, Berlin, Tokyo, Moscow, Dubai and Hong Kong, will unlock parts of the new song, United States of Eurasia. When all six sticks are found and the puzzles they contain solved, the song will be available in its entirety. Great promo strategy.
